The Lonoke Jackrabbits lost their first conference game of the season last week as the Stuttgart Ricebirds won 5-1 at the Lonoke Ball Park.
The Ricebirds scored single runs in the first and fifth innings while also scoring three times in the fourth to lead 5-0.
Lonoke’s only run came in the sixth. Guy Halbert singled and scored on a single by Nick Watson. Lonoke had chances to score more in the sixth but Risner and Watson were stranded in scoring position to end the inning.
Blake Gooden then walked with two outs in the seventh but was stranded at first base to end the game.
The Jackrabbits left nine runners on base. Shane Pepper walked in the first inning and was stranded at third base.
Madison James doubled in the second but was stranded at third to end the inning. Nick Graves singled and Pepper reached on an error but they were stranded in the third.
Garrett Spears led off with a triple in the fifth inning. Graves was hit by a pitch but Stuttgart retired the next three batters in order to get out of the jam.
Lonoke had only four hits in the game. Halbert, Watson, James and Spears each reached safely by a hit.
Lonoke 14, North Pulaski 6
The Lonoke Jackrabbits bounced back with a 14-6 win over the North Pulaski Falcons on Friday at the Lonoke Ball Park.
The Falcons scored five runs in the top of the first. The Jackrabbits responded with eight runs with two outs in the bottom of the frame. Scoring were Blake Gooden, Guy Halbert, Madison James, Zack Risner, Reid McKenzie, Garrett Spears, Dustyn Perkins and Shane Pepper.
Lonoke scored two runs in the third. Pepper singled with one out and scored on a double by Gooden, who also scored.
The Jackrabbits plated four runs in the fourth. Scoring were Nick Graves, Pepper, Essick Shephard and Gooden.
Lonoke 6, CAC 3
The Lonoke Jackrabbits held off Central Arkansas Christian for a 6-3 win Tuesday at the Lonoke Ball Park.
CAC scored twice in the top of the first. Lonoke responded with three runs in the bottom of the inning. Shane Pepper and Christian James both walked and Guy Halbert was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Madison James followed with a single, driving in Pepper and Christian James. Halbert also scored in the inning.
Lonoke scored single runs in the second, fourth and fifth innings.
Christian James singled and scored in the second. Nick Graves singled and scored on a sacrifice fly by Pepper in the fourth. Madison James walked in the fifth and scored on a single by Nick Watson.
Spears got the win, going six innings. He allowed two runs on two hits. He struck out three.
