Two youth baseball players from Lonoke are World Series champions.

Conner Linton and Tucker Sparks of Lonoke are members of the Rawlings Arkansas Prospects 12-and-under AAA baseball team, based in Sherwood, that won the United States Specialty Sports Association World Series in Dallas on July 4.

Arkansas beat a team from Houston twice on July 4 to win the world title. Arkansas won the first game 3-0 and the “if” game 9-6. Linton hit a homer in the championship game victory.

Teams participating in the tournament were from Arkansas, Texas, Kentucky, Oklahoma and Louisiana.

Linton and Sparks will both be seventh-graders at Lonoke Middle School this fall. They joined the Rawlings Arkansas Prospects in the fall of 2011 and begin playing in tournaments and continued through the World Series.

The team is coached by Stephen Lister and Jason Fakouri.
