Lady Rabbits shut out Stuttgart

The Lonoke Lady Jackrabbits played one of their best games of the season in shutting out Stuttgart 4-0 in a 4A-2 conference game April 11 at the Lonoke Ball Park.

Lonoke pitcher Hannah Murray struck out six in seven innings of work.

Lonoke scored twice in the first inning. Charley Jo Chesney led off with a solo homer to center field. Murray also singled and scored on a hit by Jessy Lewis.

Lonoke’s third run came in the second inning. Candace James tripled and scored on a double by Chesney.

Lonoke’s fourth run came in the sixth. Lindsey Roland singled and scored on a hit by James.

Harrison tourney

The Lonoke Lady Jackrabbits played three games in the Harrison tournament, finishing 1-2.

Lonoke lost to Elkins 11-5 in the first round. All five of the Lady Jackrabbits runs came in the fourth. Scoring were Charley Jo Chesney, Jasalyn Truelove, Katelyn James, Candace James and Kaley Dozier.

Elkins scored once in the first, four in the third and six in the fourth.

Lonoke bounced back with a 13-0 rout of Bergman.

Chesney and Dozier led Lonoke with three runs scored. Also scoring were Truelove, Hannah Murray, Jessy Lewis, Haylee Whitehurst, Candace James and Amanda Sexton.

Lonoke then lost to Huntsville 9-7 in the fifth-place game.

Lonoke scored twice in the first. Charley Jo Chesney and Jasalyn Truelove both scored.

Lonoke added a run in the second. Candace James tripled and scored.

The Lady Jackrabbits scored again in ht fourth. James doubled and scored.

Lonoke’s final three runs came in the fifth. Scoring were Chesney, Truelove and Katelyn James.

Lonoke 2, Rose Bud 1

Lonoke held off Rose Bud for a 2-1 non-conference win Tuesday.

The game was scoreless until the bottom of the fourth. Lonoke’s Jessy Lewis led off with a double and scored.

Lonoke’s second run came in the sixth. Lewis tripled and scored on a double by Haylee Whitehurst.

The Lady Ramblers lone run came in the seventh.

Hannah Murray got the win, striking out four in seven innings of work.
