The Lonoke Lady Jackrabbits softball team finished as district tournament runners-up after beating Heber Springs 12-4 in the semifinals of the 4A-2 tournament Monday then falling to Stuttgart 10-0 in the title game.
In the win over Heber Springs, Lonoke scored once in the first. Hannah Murray doubled and scored on a hit by Katelyn James.
Lonoke then scored 10 runs in the third inning to lead 10-2. Scoring were Charley Jo Chesney, Jasalyn Truelove (twice), Murray (twice), Katelyn James, Jessy Lewis, Haylee Whitehurst, Jarrelyn McCall and Kaley Dozier.
Lonoke scored it’s final run in the fifth. Truelove walked and scored on a double by James.
Murray got the win, allowing four runs while striking out four.
In the championship game, Stuttgart scored twice in the first, five times in the second, once in the third and twice in the fourth.
Lonoke struggled to get base runners. Truelove reached third in the first inning and Jessy Lewis reached first in the fourth.
Lonoke will play Valley View in the first round of the Class 4A East Region tournament Friday at 7:30 p.m. at Heber Springs. If Lonoke wins, it will play Saturday at 2:30 p.m. against the winner of Heber Springs and Brookland. The championship game is Monday at 2:30 p.m. The third-place game is Monday at noon.
If Lonoke beats Valley View, the Lady Jackrabbits will also qualify for the Class 4A state tournament, which starts May 9 at Ashdown.
