Lady Rabbits fall to Valley View in regional

The Lonoke Lady Jackrabbits’ softball season came to an end with a 7-3 loss to Valley View in the first round of the Class 4A East Region tournament at Heber Springs on Saturday.

The Lady Blazers scored twice in the first to lead 2-0.

After holding Valley View scoreless in the second, Lonoke tried to get on the board in the bottom of the frame. Jessy Lewis doubled with one out and went to third on a ground out by Haylee Whitehurst. However, Lewis was stranded at third to end the inning.

The Lady Blazers then scored two runs on a home run to lead 4-0 after three innings.

Lonoke’s Katelyn James then doubled in the bottom of the fourth with one out but was stranded at second to end the inning.

Valley View added two runs in the top of the fifth to lead 6-0.

The Lady Jackrabbits got on the board in the bottom of the fifth. Candy James reached and scored Lonoke’s first run.

Valley View pushed its lead to 7-1 with its final run in the top of the sixth.

The Lady Jackrabbits scored twice in the sixth. Katelyn James and Lewis both scored to cut the deficit to 7-3. That was as close as Lonoke would get.
