Lady Rabbits fall to Malvern on Monday

The Lonoke Lady Jackrabbits gave Malvern fits for four games Monday but the Lady Leopards pulled away for a win in volleyball at the Gina Cox Center.

The scores were 12-25, 25-22, 7-25, 25-17.

In the first game, Lonoke tied the game at 3-3 on a kill by Eboni Willis. That was as close as the Lady Jackrabbits got as Malvern pulled away for the 25-12 win.

In the second game, Lonoke jumped out to a 3-0 lead on the serve of Haylee Whitehurst. Malvern took control for a while and led 17-12 before Lonoke forced a sideout to cut the deficit to 17-13. The score remained close until Emily Moore got to serve at 22-19.

Moore served six consecutive points to give the Lady Jackrabbits a 25-22 win. Moore had one ace — making the score 24-22.

Lonoke got off to a quick start in the third game, leading 5-3 on the serve of Jarrelyn McCall. However, Malvern scored 14 consecutive points to lead 17-5.

In the fourth game, Lonoke trailed 12-2 but eventually pulled to within five at 20-15 on the serve of Ashlyn Allen, who had a string of five consecutive winners, including two aces.

Malvern then pulled away for the win.
