Lady Jackrabbits rout Forrest City, 13-3

The Lonoke Lady Jackrabbits softball team won its first game of the season, beating Forrest City 13-3 at the Lonoke Ball Park on March 7.

The Lady Mustangs scored twice in the top of the first off Lonoke pitcher Hannah Murray. The Lady Jackrabbits responded with three runs in the bottom of the inning to lead 3-2. Charley Jo Chesney led off with walk. Murray then singled and Katelyn James reached on an error. Chesney, Kashara Wilborn (running for Murray) and James each scored runs.

The Lady Jackrabbits added three more runs in the second to lead 6-2. Jarrelyn McCall and Kaley Dozier both reached on errors and scored on a triple by Chesney, who also scored in the frame.

Lonoke added to its lead in the third, scoring three more runs. Jessy Lewis singled and scored. Lindsey Roland reached on an error and scored and McCall walked and scored.

Lonoke’s final four runs came in the fourth. James scored on a triple by Lewis, who scored when Roland reached on an error. Roland and McCall each scored in the fourth.

Forrest City’s final run came in the top of the fifth.

McCall led Lonoke with three runs scored. Scoring twice were Roland, Lewis, James and Chesney.

Murray got the win, pitching four innings. She struck out five.
