Junior Rabbits come up short in opener

The Lonoke Junior Jackrabbits fell short against Beebe in the season opener as the Junior Badgers won 22-14 in the season opener at Bro Erwin Stadium on Sept. 5.

Each team scored a touchdown in the first half.

Casey Martin caught a 30-yard touchdown pass from Logan Dozier in the second quarter. Ricky Nichols added the two-point conversion as the score was tied 8-8 at halftime.

The game was tied 14-14 late in the fourth quarter before Beebe scored with about a minute left to win the game.

Lonoke’s only score of the second half came on a 3-yard touchdown catch by Conner Linton. The two-point conversion failed.

Dozier completed 5 of 8 passes for 70 yards and two touchdowns. He also threw an interception.

Martin completed 2 of 4 passes for 22 yards.

Dozier led the Junior Jackrabbits with 72 yards rushing on seven carries. Isaac Toney had 27 yards on eight carries. Michael Hodges had 20 yards on four carries.

Linton caught four passes for 35 yards and a touchdown. Martin caught two passes for 39 yards and a score. Kameron Cole had one catch for 18 yards.

The Junior Jackrabbits will host the Little Rock Christian Warriors tonight at James B. Abraham Stadium. Game time is 7 p.m.
