Jr. Lady Rabbits hold off Carlisle in OT

Lonoke swept two junior high games from Carlisle last week at the Gina Cox Center.
It took overtime but the Lonoke Junior Lady Jackrabbits rallied from a 10-point second half deficit to beat Carlisle 29-27.
Carlisle led 17-11 at halftime and 21-11 early in the third quarter after two points each by Kylie Warren and Elex McCalin.
Lonoke then went on a 9-0 run to pull to within one at 21-20 with 18 seconds left in the quarter. Maddie Pool started the run with a three-point play. Kylie Hobson, Mickenzie Williams and Keiunna Walker scored two points each during the run.
Carlisle led 23-22 after three quarters.
Lonoke took a 26-23 lead on a baskets by Annie Whisnant.
Carlisle tied game at 26-26 on a basket by Arius McClain and a free throw by Warren with 2:49 left.
From there, Lonoke ran out the clock and had a chance to win it at the buzzer but Hobson’s 15-foot jumper rimmed out, sending the game into overtime.
Each team had plenty of chances in the extra period. Walker scored three points for Lonoke to give her team a 29-26 lead with a minute left.
Carlisle got on the board in overtime on a free throw by McClain with 52.2 seconds left.
Lonoke then missed five three throws, giving Carlisle a chance. After a Carlisle timeout with 5.5 seconds left. Warren attempted a halfcourt shot, sinking it but the final horn sounded with the ball still in her hand.
Walker led Lonoke with 12 points. Whisnant had six. Hobson had four. Pool scored three. Destiny Bracy and Williams had two points each.
Warren led Carlisle with 13 points. Nikita Harper had six. Arius McClain and Journey Jennings had three points each. Elex McClain finished with two.
Lonoke overcame a slow start to beat Carlisle 46-21.
Lonoke led 8-6 in the first quarter before leading 28-11 at halftime.
Carlisle outscored Lonoke 6-0 in the fourth quarter.
Isaac Toney led Lonoke with 15 points. Conner Linton, Kylan Branscomb and Tammerra Moore had six points each. Tyler Spencer had four. Casey Martin, Jydan Johsnon and Tucker Sparks had three points each.
Mitch Lewis led Carlisle with 11 points. Zach Caviness had seven. Jamarious Harper added three.
