Jackrabbits stay perfect in 4A-2 play

The Lonoke Jackrabbits improved to 11-5 overall and 4-0 in 4A-2 conference play with wins over Southside Batesville and Pine Bluff Dollarway.

Lonoke pitchers Zack Risner and Blake Gooden combined on a two-hitter as the Jacrkabbits knocked off the Cardinals 10-1 on Monday.

Risner pitched five innings. He did not allow a hit while striking out eight. Gooden gave up one run on two hits in the sixth but struck out the side in the seventh.

The Jackrabbits got on the board in the top of the first. Gooden reached on an error and scored on a single by Madison James.

Lonoke scored another run in the second. Garrett Spears walked and scored on a single by Christian James. The Jackrabbits plated another run in the fourth. Nick Graves walked and scored on a hit by Shane Pepper.

Lonoke put the game away with five runs in the fifth. Scoring were Risner, Spears, Graves, Pepper and Christian James.

Lonoke’s final two runs came in the seventh. Graves was hit by a pitch and scored on a sacrifice fly by Gooden. Pepper also scored.

Christian James led the Jackrabbits with three hits.

Lonoke 18, Southside 6

The Lonoke Jackrabbits routed Southside Batesville 18-6 last week.

Lonoke scored once int he first, 10 times in the second, five times in the third and two times in the fourth.

Guy Halbert was 4 for 4 with three runs scored. Madison James was also 4 for 4, scoring twice.

Christian James, Zack Risner, Garrett Spears and Nick Graves each scored two runs.

Also scoring runs were Shane Pepper and Blake Gooden.
