The Lonoke Jackrabbits rushed for 466 yards in a 41-14 win over Beebe in the home opener Friday night at James B. Abraham Stadium.
Lonoke (1-1) had two players run for more than 160 yards in the victory.
Senior quarterback Kody Smith had 202 yards and two touchdowns on 18 carries. Sophomore Josh Coleman rushed for 163 yards and four touchdowns on 18 carries.
Coleman scored on runs of 13, 5, 11 and 8 yards. Smith scored on runs of 3 and 1 yards.
Smith completed 8 of 11 passes for 91 yards. Blake Mack caught all eight balls. He also rushed for 46 yards on six carries.
Lonoke kicker Jose Garcia made 5 of 6 extra points.
Lonoke’s defense limited Beebe to 224 yards rushing and 39 yards passing. Beebe’s Trip Smith, who rushed for close to 300 yards against Greenbrier last week, was held to 79 yards on 20 carries. Quarterback Aaron Nunez had 86 yards on 16 carries.
Beebe lost several fumbles and Lonoke defensive back Trey Bevis had two interceptions.
“I’m real proud of our defense,” Lonoke coach Doug Bost said. “They stepped up and made plays. Our kids bowed up on them. I’m real proud of them.”
Lonoke hosts Little Rock McClellan next Friday at James B. Abraham Stadium. Game time is 7 p.m.
