LONOKE — The host Jackrabbits defeated Central Arkansas Christian, 56-41, in the 4A tournament at the Gina Cox Center on Friday night.
Lonoke was led by Blake Mack and his 29 points. Mack has signed to play football with Arkansas State University.
Joseph Strange led CAC with 15 points.
This was CAC’s first loss since Valentine’s Day and had entered the tournament with a No. 1 seed as the South Region champ.
Lonoke will now play at 2:30 p.m. on Monday against Nashville.
Nashville won a thriller, 66-65, in a game that wasn’t decided until the final seconds.
Maumelle senior Kendall Donnerson led all scorers with 19 and was huge down the stretch scoring the Hornets final six points but on the final play, after a mad scramble for the ball, it ended up in Nashville’s hands and the game was effectively over with only 0.4 seconds left.
Maumelle was called for the foul and then whistled for the technical, leading to four free-throw attempts for Nashville but all four were missed and on the inbound, Nashville was able to dribble out the time.
Tyshun Robinson added 16 for Maumelle. The Hornets finish the season at 23-8 and this was just their second loss to a 4A team all season.
In other action, North Little Rock beat West Memphis, 77-63, in the 7A boys tournament at Conway and Jacksonville beat Hope, 56-41, at the 5A tournament at Alma.
Both teams are defending state champs and are working on repeat titles.
In girls action, Lonoke lost to Farmington 71-66 in a game that wasn’t decided until the final seconds.
North Little Rock also lost. The Cats were beat by Bentonville, 54-48.
