Carlisle and Lonoke split junior high games

Carlisle and Lonoke split two junior high games as part of a four-game night at Bison Arena on Friday.

Junior Girls

Carlisle blew open a close game in the third quarter to beat Lonoke 31-14.

The Junior Lady Bison led 10-6 at halftime.

Carlisle scored the first five points of the second half to lead 15-6. Arius McClain hit a short jumper and Kylie Warren converted a three-point play. Lonoke’s Annie Whisnant broke the run with a jumper but Warren and Ashby Terry each scored two points to push the lead to 19-8.

Whisnant scored again late in the quarter to make the score 19-10.

Lonoke tried to keep it close as Mickenzie Williams hit 3 of 4 free throws to pull the Junior Lady Jackrabbits to within seven at 20-13.

Carlisle then went on a 9-0 run to put the game away. McClain started the run with a free throw. Warren scored on a layup. Nicquira Burnett then hit two free throws before Terry got a steal and layup. McClain finished the run with a short jumper.

Warren led Carlisle with 13 points. McClain had five. Terry scored four. Burnett and Nikita Harper scored two each.

Whisnant and Deria Allen scored four each to lead Lonoke. Destiny Bracy and Williams had three points each.

Junior boys

The Lonoke Junior Jackrabbits scored the game’s first 10 points in beating Carlisle 40-14.

Lonoke led 15-4 after one quarter and 18-4 after a three-pointer by Tammerra Moore early in the second quarter. Carlisle’s Ja Marious Harper hit a short jumper to make the score 18-6. Lonoke’s Haven Hunter then scored four in a row to give his team a 22-6 lead.

Lonoke led 24-8 at halftime.

Hunter led Lonoke with 12 points. Isaac Toney scored 10. Scoring four each were Myke Williams, Jaydan Johnson, Kylan Branscomb and Conner Linton. Ryan Truelove and Moore scored two points each.

Harper and Shawn Wakefield had four points each. Scoring two each were Zach Caviness, Jermyne Williamson and Caleb Parer.

Junior Rabbits 26, Stuttgart 21

The Lonoke Junior Jackrabbits edged Stuttgart 26-21 on Monday at the Gina Cox Center.

Lonoke led 6-1 after one quarter but the score was tied 7-7 at halftime.

Lonoke outscored the Ricebirds 13-2 in the third quarter to lead 20-9 heading into the final six minutes.

Isaac Toney led Lonoke with seven points. Jydan Johnson scored five. Scoring four each were Kylan Branscomb and Conner Linton. Tammarrea Moore had three. Tyler Spencer scored two while Haven Hunter added a free throw.

Junior Lady Rabbits 29, Stuttgart 25

The Lonoke Junior Lady Jackrabbits bounced back from a loss to Carlisle to beat Stuttgart 29-25 on Monday at the Gina Cox Center.

Lonoke led 7-6 after one quarter and 13-8 at halftime.

Annie Whisnant led Lonoke with seven points. Deria Allen had six. Scoring four each Keiunna Walker and Maddie Pool. Destiny Brace and Arian Phillips scored three each. Mickenzie Williams had two.

Junior Lady Bison 36, Hazen 23

The Carlisle Junior Lady Bison improved to 5-3 overall and 2-0 in league play with a 36-23 win over Hazen on Monday.

Carlisle led 18-5 after one quarter and 24-10 at halftime.

Elex McClain led Carlisle with 12 points. Kylie Warren had 11. Arrius McClain scored seven. Nikita Harper had four while Ashby Terry added two.

Clarendon 48, Jr. Bison 21

Clarendon outscored Carlisle 13-4 in the first quarter en route to a 48-21 win over the Junior Bison on Tuesday.

Carlisle trailed 27-7 at halftime.

Ja Marious Harper led Carlisle with six points. Zach Caviness had five. Shawn Wakefield scored four. Mitch Lewis added three. Jermyne Williamson and Drake Adams had two points each.
