Lady Rabbits split two games

The Lonoke Lady Jackrabbits split its last two games, beating Newport 48-38 on Friday but falling at Clinton 38-31 on Tuesday.

In the win over Newport, Lonoke jumped out to a 13-3 lead after one quarter. The Lady Greyhounds rallied but trailed 21-18 at halftime.

The difference in the game was the third quarter. Lonoke outscored Newport 16-7 to lead 37-25 heading into the fourth quarter.

Eboni Willis led Lonoke with 19 points. Kerasha Johnson had 14. Amanda Sexton added eight. Callie Whitfield scored six. Riely Rowton added a free throw.

In Tuesday’s loss to Clinton, Lonoke trailed 8-4 after one quarter but led 16-14 at halftime. Johnson scored six points in the second quarter while Willis had four.

Clinton then outscored Lonoke 10-5 in the third quarter and 14-0 in the fourth quarter.

Willis led Lonoke with 12 points. Johnson had 11. Whitfield and Rowton had three points each. Sexton added two.

Lonoke is now 13-12 overall and 7-6 in 4A-2 conference play.

Jr. Lady Rabbits 46, Newport 33

The Lonoke Junior Lady Jackrabbits knocked off Newport 46-33 in the regular-season finale Friday night.

Newport led 12-11 after one quarter.

Lonoke rallied to lead 25-22 at halftime then pulled away in the third quarter, outscoring Newport 16-5.

Jarrelyn McCall led Lonoke with 24 points. Ashlyn Allen had seven. Annie Whisnant added five. Scoring four each were Brittany Jackson and Brooke Jackson. Makayla Grady scored two.
