Unofficial results of the Preferential Primary elections

Some upsets were seen in the May 20 Preferential Primaries, with some office holders losing their posts to challengers. Some local races could be changed by 83 absentee ballots that are not included in the results.

Sheriff John Staley won another term, drawing 66 percent of the vote in a three-candidate race, while current Lonoke County Clerk Larry Clarke fell to former clerk Dawn Porterfield.

Lonoke County Tax Assessor will go to a runoff election between incumbent Jack McNally and Jerrel L. Maxwell - Maxwell drew the most votes in the primary but, with third candidate Marsha Beck drawing nearly 25 percent, was not able to draw more than 50 percent.

Of the Lonoke County Justice of the Peace positions, only JP2 will be seen on the General Election Ballot

with the choices of Barry D. (B.J.) Weathers* (R) and Christian Parks (Libertarian)

All results are unofficial until certified by the Lonoke County Election Commission.
