Topic of the Week

The Lonoke School District is still open for the Seamless Summer Meal Program. This program serves breakfast and lunch to students in grades K-12 for free. The dates are now until July 3. We encourage all students to come to the school for a free meal. Meals are served at the elementary building in the cafeteria. Contact the elementary school for more details at 676-6740.

The Committed to Other Routes of Education (C.O.R.E.) program planted a garden along with help from the Extension Office. The garden is growing and the community is also assisting with C.O.R.E. staff to collect produce and give back to the community.

The primary school is under construction at the current time. The school is receiving new Heat/Air conditioning units throughout the building as well as getting a new facelift on the front of the building. The new front of the building will be designed with more safety in mind for our students and staff. This project was written in the district Master Plan and approved by the state facilities division from the Arkansas Department of Education and the school board. The state funds a portion of the project and the district funds a portion of the project to aide in helping to keep our facilities warm, safe, and dry. We are excited and can’t wait to see the results. The project will hopefully be completed by the start of the school year, but if not, we will adjust as necessary and keep the public informed prior to the start of the upcoming school year.
