Marc Sherrell is new LHS principal

Lonoke High School has a new principal.

The Lonoke School Board, after an hour-long executive session, unanimously hired Marc Sherrell to replace Phynaus Wilson as LHS principal. Wilson retired following the 2012-13 school year.

Sherrell is currently an assistant principal at Blytheville Primary School. He will assume his new duties at Lonoke on July 1.

School board members in attendance were Darrell Park, Rick Pennington, Tony Kelleybrew, Eddie Pennington, Mike Brown and Matt Boyles, who left during the executive session and did not vote. Chris James was absent.

Also during the meeting, the board accepted the resignation of four teachers — Claire Vann, middle school career orientation; Chad E. Sparks, Junior ROTC instructor; Lindy Hearn, middle school special education; and Dana Davis, alternative learning environment.

The board also approved the transfer of Stacy Duncan from 10th grade English to C.O.R.E. Program English and history.
