The Marjorie Walker McCrary Memorial Library celebrated a successful summer of reading with a concert from Arkansas performers, The Kinders on Thursday, Aug . 8.
Fifty-two Lonoke children completed this year’s summer reading program “Dig into Reading” by reading a total of 1172 books. The children were awarded certificates of completion along with gift bags full of treats, thanks to the generous support from local businesses. Lillie Jones won the grand prize for the ages six plus program, which was an eReader that can read free eBooks from the library. Sophie Cargile won the grand prize for the ages five and under group, which was a beginner laptop to help with literacy.
