Lonoke High School senior Madison James is the recipient of the 2013 L.C. “Mac” McCrary Scholarship. The award was announced by LHS principal Phynaus Wilson and counselor Carrier Lowery.
James, son of Chris and Karen James of Lonoke, was selected by the Lonoke High School Faculty committee to receive the scholarship this year.
The L.C. “Mac” McCrary family has made the $500 scholarship available. It is given in memory of Lemuel E. McCrary, III. Students must attend an accredited four-year college or university. A written essay of 500 words was the major factor in the selection of the winner. The topic for this year’s essay was: “How has the community of Lonoke helped shape your character?”
James is ranked number one in a class of 140. He plans to attend college this fall and major in Athletic Training and Physical Therapy.
Lonoke High School would like to thank the McCrary family for making this scholarship possible, Lowery said
