Army Pvt. Cody L. Horton of Lonoke has completed basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C.
During nine weeks of training, Horton learned about the Army mission as well as Army history, tradition and core values, military courtesy and the military justice system. He was guided in developing his physical fitness, and was instructed in basic combat skills such as rifle marksmanship, armed and unarmed combat, military weapons and defending against chemical attack. Horton practiced drill and ceremony, marching, while building other skills such as map reading, field tactics, basic first aid, and participated in foot marches and field training exercises.
Horton is the son of Everett and Windy Horton of Lonoke, and is a member of the Lonoke High School Class of 2012.
