LITTLE ROCK — The number of homes sold in Arkansas in January increased by 8.7 percent compared to a year earlier, while the number of homes sold in Lonoke County stayed flat, the Arkansas Realtors Association said Friday.
Statewide, the association said 1,595 homes sold in the 43-county area it surveyed in January, up from 1,467 a year earlier. The average price of a home was $145,423, up slightly from $143,898 in January 2013.
In Lonoke County, 56 homes sold in January, while 56 homes sold in January 2013. Those sales represented $7.4 million in January, compared to $8.1 million in January 2013. The average price of the homes sold in Lonoke County was $131,405 in January, compared to $144,829 in January 2013.
Pulaski County had the most homes sold in January with 259, followed by Benton County with 256, Washington County with 143, Saline County with 105 and Garland County with 91.
Average home prices for the month were highest in Columbia County at $384,129, followed by Garland County at $219,734, Madison County at $182,700, Washington County at $179,341 and Cross County at $167,500.
