Local swimmers do well in meet

Four members of the Lonoke branch of the Central Arkansas Swim Club Racers participated in the ASI Central Regional Championship meet March 8 at Bryant.

Tanner Edwards placed sixth in the boys 13-14 100-yard breaststroke and eighth in the 100-yard freestyle.

Jimmy Evans place seventh in the 15-18 boys 100-yard freestyle, fifth in the 100-yard butterfly and third in the 100-yard breaststroke.

Tristan Bennett placed fourth in the girls 15-18 girls 100-yard breaststroke.

Makenzie Bennett had a fourth-place finish in the girls 15-18 100-yard butterfly and was third in the 500-yard freestyle.

The Racers are a year-round USA Swim Team based at the Lonoke Community Center. Herb Brill is the team’s coach. The Racers short course season is drawing to a close. Later this spring the long course season will begin.

The Lonoke Sharkrockets is a summer swim team also based at the Lonoke Community Center. There will be a parent meeting March 18 at 6 p.m. at the Lonoke Community Center for the upcoming Sharkrocket season.

The Rev Up program for the summer swim season will begin March 31. Regular team practice will begin May 8. Anyone interested in being on the team is encouraged to attend.
