Lady Rabbits shut out Lady Bison

Lonoke pitcher Charley Jo Chesney threw a no-hitter Monday as the Lady Jackrabbits beat the Carlisle Lady Bison 13-0 in softball action on Bobby Glover Field at Rockefeller Park.

Chesney walked two and struck out six in six innings of work.

Lonoke scored six runs in both the second and sixth innings and once in the fourth.

Lonoke’s Jessy Lewis was 3 for 4 with two runs scored. Jarrelyn McCall was 3 for 4 with a run and two RBIs. Amanda Sexton was 2 for 3 with a run scored and three RBIs.

Also scoring runs were Gracie Cole (2), Kaley Dozier (2), Chesney, Jasalyn Truelove, Haylee Whitehurst, Brooke Jackson and Candace James.

Cole and Sexton had two doubles each. Dozier and Lewis also had doubles.

McCall had a triple for the Lady Jackrabbits.

Carlisle had several chances to score. With two outs, Katlyn Stock reached on a dropped third strike but was retired at second base on a fielder’s choice by Taylor Mealler.

In the third, Sloane Henderson walked and stole second base but was called out for leaving second base early on a pitch to Lexi Andrews.

Mealler struck out three in six innings of work for the Lady Bison.
