The Carlisle Lady Bison finished the Bison Holiday Hoops Classic with a 55-41 win over Bradford in the third-place game Monday at Bison Arena.

Carlisle is now 5-5 overall, going 2-1 in the tournament. The Lady Bison routed Barton 56-24 in the first round Friday but lost to DeWitt 40-39 in the semifinals Saturday.

Carlisle coach Jonathan Buffalo said playing three games in four days will help his team the remainder of the season.

“This is the second time we’ve done something like this,” he said. “We played three games in three days earlier this season. It gets you ready for the tournament-type play.”

Carlisle is also 2-0 in 2A-6 play after beating Marvell before Christmas break.

“The only ones that matter are 2-0 and the 12 that remain,” Buffalo said.

In the win over Bradford, Carlisle led 14-9 late in the first quarter following a basket by Presley Carter. However, Bradford scored the next eight points to lead 17-14 with 6:32 left in the first half.

Carlisle pulled to within one at 17-16 on two free throws by Faith Walker. Bradford scored two to lead 19-16 with 5:48 left in the first half.

The Lady Bison then scored the final 13 points of the half to lead 29-19 at halftime. Walker scored six during the run. Carter had four and Morgan Walter hit a three-pointer.

The run continued in the third quarter when Walter scored off a pass from Walker to push the lead to 31-19.

Bradford made a small run, pulling to within seven a 33-26 before Walker converted a three-point play and Carter scored on a putback to push the lead back to 38-26. Carlisle led 38-28 after three quarters.

The Lady Bison outscored the Lady Eagles 17-13 in the fourth quarter.

Walker led the Lady Bison with 31 points. Carter added 18. Walter scored five while Kayla Golleher hit a free throw.

In the loss to DeWitt, Carlisle led 10-5 after one quarter and 18-11 at halftime. DeWitt rallied in the second half to get the win.

Walker led Carlisle with 28 points. Golleher had five. Carter scored four while Walter had two.

In the rout of Barton, Carlisle led 9-6 with two minutes left in the first quarter. The Lady Bison then outscored the Lady Bears 22-2 the rest of the half to lead 31-6 at halftime.

Walker led Carlisle with 32 points. Carter had 12. Walter scored seven. Golleher added two.

Carlisle 48, Marvell 16

The Carlisle Lady Bison improved to 2-0 in 2A-6 play with a 48-16 win over Marvell on Dec. 20.

The score was tied 8-8 after one quarter. The Lady Bison outscored the Lady Mustangs 17-0 in the second quarter to lead 25-8 at halftime.

Faith Walker led Carlisle with 25 points. Presley Carter scored 13. Kayla Golleher scored four. Signe Drongeson hit a three-pointer. Rachel Jones and Madison Walter had four points each.
