Lady Bison split with Des Arc

The Carlisle Lady Bison split a doubleheader with Des Arc last week in the final regular season games.

Des Arc won the first game 4-1; Carlisle won the second game 8-7.

Carlisle’s season ended with a loss to Brinkley in the first round of 2A-6 district tournament Tuesday night at Hazen. Coverage of that game will appear in next week’s paper.

In the loss to Des Arc, the Lady Bison’s only run came in the top of the fifth after trailing 4-0. Taylor Mealler doubled to lead off the inning. Hayley Hedrick, courtesy running for Mealler, scored on a triple by Emily Merritt, who was stranded at third base to end the game.

In the second game, Des Arc scored cone in the second and six in the third.

Carlisle scored twice in the second. McKayla Prince led off with a single and scored on a double by Ashby Terry. Merrit followed with a single, driving in Terry with the second run.

The Lady Bison scored a single run in the third. Lexi Andrews walked and scored on a double by Mealler.

Carlisle took an 8-7 lead with five runs in the bottom of the fourth. Scoring were Maggye McCallie, Signe Drongesen, Andrews, Morgan Walter and Katlyn Stock, who had a triple in the inning.
