After dropping a regional semifinal game to eventual champion Magnet Cove on Friday, the Carlisle Lady Bison struggled at times during the consolation game Saturday afternoon with Mount Ida.

However, the Lady Bison pulled away in the fourth quarter for a 57-43 win over the Lady Lions at Bison Arena.

The win is Carlisle’s 20th of the season.

“We faced some adversity,” Carlisle coach Jonathan Buffalo said, referring to foul trouble and injuries. “I thought my girls stood up to the challenge.”

Carlisle had 10 turnovers in the first half and eight in the second half with only three coming in the fourth quarter.

“We played real well in the second half,” Buffalo said. “It was a big ballgame. It’s the last time we’re going to play on that floor. I stressed to them ‘let’s leave this floor with a victory.’”

After picked up her fourth foul, Carter played the remainder of the game without picking up her fifth.

Young fouled out with 1:03 left and her team leading 57-41.

“That showed a lot of discipline,” Buffalo said of his players staying in the game despite the foul problems. “We made some adjustments and I moved her [Carter] away from the block on defense and put her out top. She did a good job. That showed discipline on her part not to slap or reach and pick up a silly foul.”

Walker led Carlisle with 22 points and five rebounds. Carter had 18 points. Young scored 12 points and grabbed four rebounds in limited action. Maddie Harrison had three points and five rebounds. Sloane Henderson added two points.
