The Carlisle Junior Bison fell to Dumas 28-16 in Tuesday’s benefit scrimmage at Dumas.
Carlisle scored two touchdowns. Devon Kendrick scored on a 35-yard run. Ty Golleher scored on an 11-yard run.
Carlisle coach Brandon Barbaree said the thought his team did well against the larger team.
“On first drive, we go down to their 5 and turn it over on a quarterback wedge,” he said. “They go down and score and we come back and score.”
Barbaree said his team needed to play different competition.
“We needed that,” he said. “Our guys needed to get used to playing a real football game again. We played true eight-minute quarters. Our guys competed. We moved the ball. Defensively, at times, we looked all right. We just missed too many tackles.
“There are always things we can sharpen up on.”
Carlisle opens the season Sept. 5 at Pulaski Academy in Little Rock. Game time is 7 p.m.
