The Lonoke Jackrabbits rallied from an 8-3 deficit to beat the Carlisle Bison 9-8 in non-conference action Tuesday at the Lonoke Ball Park.
After cutting Carlisle lead to 8-7 in the bottom of the sixth, the Jackrabbits won the game in the bottom of the seventh. Cody Martin led off the frame with a four-pitch walk. Hunter Haven then walked on five pitches.
Carlisle reliever Dylan Brazeal then got Savonte Rountree to fly out to right field. An error led to Martin scoring the tying run. Hunter scored the game-winning run on a balk.
Lonoke took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first. With two outs, Nick Graves walked and eventually scored.
Carlisle tied the game at 1-1 in the top of the third. Thomas McCallie walked and scored on a ground out by Tyler Young.
Lonoke reclaimed the lead at 2-1. Christian James struck out but reached on a dropped third strike. He eventually scored when Mikey Shinn reached on a fielder’s choice.
Frpm there, it looked like the Bison might roll to the win, scoring six runs in the top of the fourth to lead 7-2. Scoring were Chance Richards, Josh Mathis, Tyler Young, Nick Schafer and Brazeal. Young and Gordon both had two RBIs in the frame.
Lonoke got a run back in the bottom of the fourth. Hunter doubled and scored.
The Bison pushed their lead back to five at 8-3 in the top of the sixth. Bradley Elder reached on an error and scored on a single by McCallie.
Lonoke pulled to within one at 8-7 with four runs in the bottom of the sixth. Scoring were Shinn, Martin, Hunter and Gave Rooney.
