Same song, different verse for the Carlisle Junior Bison football team.

Carlisle led 20-16 in the fourth quarter before England scored late to beat the Junior Bison 24-20 at Fred C. Hardke Field on Thursday, Sept. 12.

Carlisle (0-3) lost in similar fashion during Week 2 against McGehee. The Junior Bison surrendered a lead late against the Junior Owls as well.

“We’ve seen growth,” Carlisle coach Brandon Barbaree said. “That’s the main thing with junior high. The ability to finish games is the problem right now. Our guys at least have chances to win games. There is a moment in the fourth quarter when we’re not able to finish. But they do keep fighting. We just haven’t been taking advantage of it.

“Hopefully, we will figure it out and keep improving, which is what we want and get better every week.”

England led 8-0 with 3:42 left in the first quarter. Carlisle cut the deficit to 8-6 when Ty Golleher scored on a 11-yard run with 3:08 left in the second quarter.

England pushed its lead to 16-6 on a 53-yard run with 2:56 left in the first half. Carlisle scored on a 28-yard run by Golleher with 46 seconds left. England led 16-12 at halftime.

The Junior Bison took a 20-16 lead with 2:03 left in the third quarter on a 4-yard run by Devon Kendrick. Golleher added the two-point conversion.

England scored the game-winning touchdown with 56 seconds left on a 4-yard run.

Golleher led Carlisle with 80 yards rushing on 16 carries. Kendrick had 56 yards on 15 carries.

The Junior Bison will host Palestine-Wheatley for homecoming tonight. Game time is 7 p.m.
