The Carlisle Bison lost their first game of the season in a 4-3 11-inning affair with the Des Arc Eagles on March 28 at Des Arc. It was the first game of a conference doubleheader.
The Bison bounced back with a 16-8 win in the nightcap. Carlisle is now 8-1 on the season.
In the loss to Des Arc, the score was tied 2-2 after seven innings and was remained that way until the top of the 11th. Jacob Cagle reached on an error and scored.
Des Arc then scored twice in the bottom of the frame to get the win.
Carlisle led 2-0 after three innings. Jacob Gordon walked and scored on a passed ball in the second. Josh Mathis doubled in the third and scored on a ground out by Austin Reed.
The Eagles scored twice in the fourth to tie the game at 2-2.
In the second game, the Bison scored twice in the first and second innings, three times in the third, once in the fourth, three in the fifth and five times in the sixth.
Mathis led the Bison with four runs scored. Chris Hart and Tyler Young had three runs each. Scoring twice was Thomas McCallie.
Mathis got the win in the second game. He gave up eight runs on eight hits. He struck out nine in the win.
The Bison will play at Brinkley in a conference doubleheader Friday.
