The search for a new boys basketball coach at Carlisle High School is under way, according to superintendent Jason Clark.
Clark said the district had accepted applications for the past week for the job vacated when William Rountree left to become girls coach at Jacksonville High School.
“We interviewed our third candidate today,” Clark said Tuesday afternoon. “We’re looking for an experienced coach. That is obviously preferable over someone who is just out of college. We’re just looking for the best candidate to continue the work that Coach Rountree began.”
The next scheduled school board meeting is July 15.
“I’d like to have something done by then so that the kids are getting their summer work in,” Clark said.
Clark said girls coach Jonathan Buffalo has been helping with the boys program since the Arkansas Activities Association’s mandatory two-week dead period ended Sunday.
“That is much appreciated right now in the absence of a boys coach right now,” he said. “That’s a good thing.”
