Carlisle wins 2 of 3 from Des Arc

The Carlisle basketball teams won 2 of 3 games from Des Arc in a make-up contest Jan. 30 at Bison Arena. The games were postponed from December because of Des Arc’s football team playing in the Class 2A state championship game.

Lady Bison 46, Des Arc 35

The Carlisle Lady Bison shook off a slow start to beat Des Arc 46-35 at Bison Arena on Thursday, Jan. 30.

The Lady Eagles led 22-21 with 3:22 left in the third quarter. Carlisle responded with a 7-0 run to lead 28-22. Faith Walker started the run with five consecutive points before Presley Carter scored on a putback with 6:18 left in the game.

After a Des Arc basket made the score 28-24, the Lady Bison pushed their lead to 33-24 with 3:49 left. Breanna Young and Carter each hit two foul shots while Sloane Hendrson hit one.

Des Arc got no closer than seven points the remainder of the game. The Lady Bison’s biggest lead was 14 points at 46-32. Des Arc hit a three-pointer at the buzzer to account for the final score.

Walker led Carlisle with 16 points — 14 in the second half. Carter added 13. Young scored 12. Henderson had three. Morgan Walter had two.

Jr. Bison 37, Des Arc 23

The Carlisle Junior Bison got their first win of the season last week, beating Des Arc 37-23 at Bison Arena.

The game was scoreless for a while but the Junior Bison led 6-2 after one quarter and 17-6 at halftime after Jamarious Harper hit a three-pointer at the buzzer.

Harper then scored five points in the third quarter as Carlisle led 27-11 heading into the fourth quarter. Mitch Lewis scored three points while Zach Caviness had two.

Harper helped the Junior Bison put the game away by scoring seven points in the final six minutes.

Harper led Carlisle with 17 points. Lewis scored six. Caviness scored four while Jermyne Williamson had two.

Des Arc 66, Bison 44

The Carlisle Bison fought hard against Des Arc but came up short, losing to the Des Arc Eagles 66-44 on Friday last week at Bison Arena.

Des Arc led 30-6 after one quarter. Danerryen Spencer scored 13 points in the first quarter for the Eagles.

After the first quarter, the Bison outscored Des Arc 38-36 over the final 24 minutes, including 14-11 in the second quarter and 13-12 in the third quarter.

Nick Schafer led the Bison with 16 points. Cole Sheets had nine. Brynden Weems added six. Dominic Castleberry had three. Lewis Bunch added two points.

Lady Bison 41, Clarendon 31

The Carlisle Lady Bison improved to 14-8 overall and 11-1 in 2A-6 play with a 41-31 win over Clarendon on Friday.

Carlisle led 9-4 after one quarter but trailed 21-16 at halftime.

The Lady Bison held the Lady Lions to only 10 second-half points. The score was tied 27-27 at the end of the third quarter.

Faith Walker led Carlisle with 18 points — 16 coming in the second half. Presley Carter added 14. Breanna Young scored six. Kayla Golleher added two while Sloane Henderson hit a free throw.

Jr. Lady Bison 33, Clarendon 14

Carlisle outscored Clarendon 17-4 in the first quarter en route to their 12th win of the season.

Carlisle led 23-8 at halftime and 33-10 after three quarters.

Elex McClain led Carlisle with 12 points. Kylie Warren had nine. Arius McClain had eight. Nikita Harper scored four.

The Junior Lady Bison are now 12-4 overall and 6-0 in league play.
