It was a successful head coaching debut for new Bison coach Brandon Barbaree.
Carlisle jumped out to a 22-0 lead then held off a game McCrory team for a 46-20 win in the season opener Friday at Fred C. Hardke Field. Barbaree replaced former coach Scott Waymire last spring when Waymire resigned to take the same job at Trumann High School.
The Bison rushed for 356 yards on 46 carries. Senior Bo Weddle, who missed most of the 2012 season with an ACL injury, finished with 155 yards rushing and two touchdowns on 16 carries. He scored on runs of 44 and 26 yards. He also caught one pass for 13 yards.
Deron Ricks had 94 yards rushing on 14 carries. He scored on runs of 47 and 11 yards.
Justice Bryant had 87 yards on seven carries. He scored on a 64-yard run in the first half.
Austin Reed completed 4 of 5 passes for 99 yards and a touchdown. His twin brother Braden caught three passes for 86 yards and a touchdown, which was a 39-yarder late in the first half.
The Bison finished with 455 yards in total offense.
McCrory finished with 160 yards rushing and 69 yards passing. Scoring touchdowns were Cade Campbell, Drake Files and Dalton Williams.
Carlisle will travel to Mountain Pine next Friday. Game time is 7 p.m.
