Bison to kick off football season at Booster Bash

Come show your Bison spirit on Saturday at the annual Bison Booster Bash.

The Carlisle Bison Booster Bash, sponsored by the Bison booster club will kick off at 5 p.m. in the Carlisle city park. This annual fundraiser event is held each year as a jump start to the football season and to recognize the football players, cheerleaders, dance team members and the Bison band.

“The booster club is proud to be a part of the Bison tradition and will continue to support through fundraisers and a helping hand,” Club President Bill Warren said.

Along with Bison merchandise and the chance to “bash” a car, the booster club will have snow cones and pork chop meals for sale. The meal will include a pork chop sandwich, baked beans, chips, cookie and drink for only $7.

The Bison booster bash is one of many ways the booster club not only raises money for the school, but shows its Bison support. Warren said the booster club is able to donate and give annual scholarships through selling of the booster club memberships and Bison merchandise sold at the annual Bison Bash and home ballgames. The club also participates during the annual Alumni Weekend at the City Park along with several other events to generate funding.

Some of the club projects include:

-Feeding all junior and senior football teams, cheerleaders, dance team and band members at the Bison Booster Bash

-Help with fireworks before every senior high home game and after at every touchdown

-Feeding all sports teams as needed.

-Help purchase equipment for athletic teams

-Making donations to other organizations

-Given donations towards team athletic accomplishments

-Awarded scholarships every year at the Athletic Banquet. Four were given to graduating seniors last year.

-Sponsoring the Bison Madness to introduce the Bison basketball teams.

-Painting the Bison with the names and numbers of the senior bison football team on the road in front of the field house

-Painting the names and numbers of the senior Bison and senior Lady Bison basketball teams in front of Bison Arena

-Paint the big “C” at midfield and “Bison” at each end zone on the football field and provide fireworks at the end of all home games.

“These are not all of our contributions, but enough to let you realize that being an active member of your Bison Booster Club rewards our children and provides them an awesome support group,” Warren said.”

Warren said he would like to get more people involved in the booster club. Dues are $40 per year per family and $25 for school employees and their families.

“Please become an active member and show our town, school, and most of all, our students that we love our Bison and support their dedication,” Warren said.

Club members will be painting Bison on the streets at 8 a.m. on Saturday morning. Painting will begin on Bison street in front of the field house before moving onto the road in front of Bison Arena.
