Bison football players receive postseason honors

Eleven Carlisle Bison football players have received postseason honors for the 2013 season.
Senior Bo Weddle was named the Farm Bureau Class 2A defensive player of the year by Hooten’s Arkansas Football. He was also named the outstanding lineman/linebacker for the 2A-6 conference and was selected to the Arkansas High School Coaches Association All-Star game. Weddle was also named first team all-conference.
Weddle rushed for 1,258 yards and 23 touchdowns on 197 carries. He caught one pass. He led the Bison in tackles with 110.
Senior Deron Ricks was a finalist for the Farm Bureau Class 2A offensive player of the year. He was named the outstanding offensive back for the 2A-6 conference and will play in the all-star game. Ricks was also named first team all-conference.
Ricks led the Bison with 2,005 yards rushing and 25 touchdowns on 223 carries. He was second on the team in tackles with 108 and tied for the team lead in interceptions with two.
Six additional Bison players were named first team all-conference. They are senior Braden Reed, senior Austin Reed, senior Justice Bryant, senior Colton Isbell and junior Dylan Brazeal.
Three Bison players were named to the 2A-6 all-conference second team. They are senior Landon Sage, senior Tristan Kirkman and senior Jordan Sheets.
Braden Reed caught 12 passes for 351 yards and three touchdowns. He also had 27 tackles and a sack on defense.
Austin Reed completed 12 of 20 passes for 296 and two touchdowns. He rushed for 67 yards and two touchdowns on 18 carries. On defense, Reed had 39 tackles.
Bryant rushed for 635 yards and seven touchdowns on 67 carries. He had 39 tackles and two interceptions.
Linemen Jones, Isbell, Brazeal, Sage and Kirkman helped the Bison rush for a school record 4,627 yards. The previous school record was 4,522 yards in 1991.
Jones had 56 tackles. Brazeal 36. Kirkman had 62 tackles and two fumble recoveries. Jones and Sage also scored offensive touchdowns this season.
Sheets was third on the team in tackles with 62. He led the Bison with five sacks.
