The Carlisle Bison tried to stay close early against Hazen but the Hornets pulled away for a 54-30 win Friday night at Bison Arena.
Carlisle trailed 7-4 after Stefan Reed scored on a putback with 5:52 left. From there, Hazen scored 10 in a row to lead 17-4 with 2:35 left. The Hornets led 22-7 after one quarter and 32-17 at halftime.
Hazen put the game away with a 7-0 run early in the second half to lead 39-19. However, the Bison kept fighting.
They trailed 52-25 with 1:29 left in the game. The Bison then scored five in a row to cut the deficit to 52-30.
Nick Schafer led the Bison with nine points. Brynden Weems and Cole Sheets had six points each. Lewis Bunch had three. Reed scored two.
Des Arc 77, Bison 31
The Des Arc Eagles jumped out to a 26-3 lead after one quarter in beating the Carlisle Bison 77-31 on Tuesday night.
The Bison trailed 46-9 at halftime.
Nick Schafer led the Bison with 15 points. Cole Sheets had 10. Lewis Bunch scored two. Chance Richards and Stefan Reed had one point each.
St. Joseph 48, Bison 17
Conway St. Joseph beat Carlisle 48-17 in non-conference action Saturday night.
Cole Sheets led Carlisle with five points. Dominic Castleberry, Nick Schafer had four points.
Hazen 28, Jr. Bison 13
The Hazen Junior Hornets pulled away from Carlisle for a 28-13 win Friday night at Bison Arena.
Hazen led 5-3 after one quarter. Zach Caviness scored two points while Jamarious Harper hit 1 of 2 free throws.
Harper scored Carlisle’s only basket in the second quarter as the Junior Bison trailed 9-5 at halftime.
Harper and Caviness led Carlisle with six points each. Shawn Wakefield scored one.
