The Walter’s Chapel Cemetery Board invites all to attend their annual Decoration Day on Sunday, May 5, 2013.

Pastor Greg Tennison and the Congregation of the Walter’s Chapel Missionary Baptist Church also extend a warm welcome to attend the 11 a.m. services. The historic little church has never looked better. If it has been awhile since you visited, now is the time to come. This year we are honored to have Brother Freddie Holmes to take part in the services with Pastor Tennison.

A potluck beginning at approximately 12:30 p.m. will follow. “If you plan to eat, please bring a potluck food item to share. Paper plates, eating utensils, cups, water and ice are provided,” a spokesman said.

At approximately 12:50 p.m. there will be a welcome with introduction of Cemetery Board Members followed by an introduction of our gospel entertainers, Highway 86. Prior to their final song, “I’ll Fly Away”, those individuals who have died since last May and buried at the cemetery will be recognized and a balloon given to each family to release.

While we have chairs, we cannot guarantee that we can accommodate everyone so it would be a good idea to bring your own. Handicapped parking will be available in the area north of the church building. If you arrive before Church lets out, please be considerate of the services. Food items may be placed on the tables in the classroom facility adjacent to the Church. Restroom facilities are available both inside the church and in the classroom building. Also, there is a small park for the smaller children to enjoy.

There will be a sing-in sheet located at the Contribution Table. Please sign-in regardless if you are local or from out-of-town or out-of-state. Contributions for the up-keep of the cemetery are greatly appreciated. Contributions may be made on Decoration Day or mailed to Lou Ellen Felts, Treasurer, Walter’s Chapel Cemetery Asso., c/o 581 Walter’s Chapel Road, Carlisle, Arkansas, 72024. Incidentally, IRS rules under Charitable Contributions allow “a contribution made to, or for the use of … organizations that otherwise are qualified under section 170 (c) of the Internal Revenue Code” which includes nonprofit cemeteries such as the Walter’s Chapel Cemetery. Beginning January 2014, if you itemize and donate money to the cemetery, you will need a receipt. Please let us know if you will need a receipt for your charitable donation.

The Annual Board Meeting will be held at the conclusion of the musical program. Again, everyone is invited to attend as the meeting is open to everyone. If you have questions or need directions please contact Nancy Felts Dunlap at 501/681-3589 or email her at dunlap.nancy@att.net.
