Lonoke County home sales up in August

Home sales in Lonoke County and across the state increased in August, according to a report by the Arkansas Realtors Association.

The ARA reported that statewide home sales rose from 2,273 in August 2012 to 2,819 in August 2013. Year-to-date figures for the state were also up 12.74 percent.

Sales increased in Lonoke County from 77 in August 2012 to 103 in August 2013, according to the ARA report.

For the year to date, sales were also up. The report indicated 618 homes have been sold in Lonoke County, compared to 570 sales by the same month in 2012.

The total value of the homes sold in Lonoke County was up 18.9 percent for August, compared year over year, increasing from $12 million to $14.7 million. Year-to-date home sale values were up 8 percent, according to the report, increasing from $83 million in 2012 to $90 million in 2013. The statewide year-to-date total was $2.9 billion.

The average price of the homes sold in Lonoke County was $142,911 in August 2013, down compared to $160,810 in August 2012. Year-to-date average prices were down from $146,093 in 2012 to $145,579 in 2013. The statewide year-to-date average was $159,615.

Benton County led the state in home sales in most categories.
