Homecoming, Alumni festivities begin Friday

Festivities for the annual homecoming and alumni weekend celebration will kick off at 1:30 p.m. this Friday, with a day homecoming coronation at the Bison Arena.
Senior Bailey Amaden will be crowned the 2013 homecoming queen by senior football captain Austin Reed. Maid of honor is Presley Carter, who will be escorted by co-captain Bo Weddle. Other homecoming maids will include Kayla Jenkins, Makenzie Bennett, Morgan Walter, Slaone Henderson, Jana Hillman, Katlyn Stock, Skylar Gosney, Taylor Prislovsky, Alex Malnar and Alexis Andrews. Senior escorts are Jared Kirk, David Orton, Cody Bowlan, Jacob Jones, Justice Bryant, Jordan Sheets, Co Captain Bo Weddle, Captain Austin Reed, Braden Reed, Cory Hart, Landon Sage, Tristain Kirkman and Deron Ricks.
There will be a parade following the coronation. Parade participants must contact Sue Grim via e-mail at firstname.lastname@example.org to receive a parade participant application.
The Carlisle Chamber of Commerce will have its annual barbecue dinner at the elementary cafeteria from 4:30-6:30 p.m. The meal is catered by Nick’s BBQ. Homemade deserts will be included. Cost is$9 for adults and $5 for children. Kids five and under eat free.
Evening coronation for the senior homecoming court will be at 6:30 p.m. at the Fred C. Hardke Field, followed by the kickoff at 7 p.m. as the Bison take on the Brinkley Tigers. The Alumni Museum, located at 825 E. 6th St., across from the south entrance of the football stadium, will be open during the game.
On Saturday, the Bison 5k run will be at 8 a.m., beginning at BancorpSouth. The first annual Carlisle Geocashe Dash will also start at 8 a.m. Participants must meet in front of the city park stage to receive list of coordinates and clues.
Alumni activities in the park will begin class reunion for those graduating in years ending in three, will kick off at 10 a.m. in the city park. Tents and approved vendors should be set up by 9 a.m. Lunch in the park will be from 10 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. followed by the Alumni program at 1:30 p.m.There will be food, fun and entertainment throughout the event.
The public is invited to tour the Police and Court building, located on Main Street between 10 a.m. and 12 p.m. during its open house.
Don’t forget to stop by the Alumni museum on Saturday. It will be open for tours from 9 a.m. until 12 p.m. and then from 3:30 p.m. until 5 p.m.
