High school asphalt project approved

The Carlisle School Board approved the asphalt project for the high school parking lot Monday night, during a special meeting.

Vice president Bryan Oliger called the meeting to order in the absence of president Terry McCallie. The district opened bids for the high school asphalting project May 20. Four bids were received. The highest bid was from Redstone Construction group of Little Rock for $248,370. Salt Creek Paving and Construction Company of Benton was the lowest with a bid of $196,637. The board voted unanimously to accept the bid from Salt Creek Paving and Construction Company.

The project is for the paving of the entire gravel parking lot at the high school. Superintendent Jason Clark said on Tuesday, work is scheduled to begin next week.

Also during the meeting the board hired two teachers. Blake Dorsey was hired as a teacher and coach. Mollie Gregory was hired as a high school family and consumer science teacher.

The next regularly scheduled meeting will be at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, June 10.
