Today: Through the month of August, BancorpSouth in Carlisle will be collecting school supplies for children in need. Donations can be brought to the BancorpSouth branch.

Today: At 10 a.m. Kern Kennedy and the “Camp Ground Express “will entertain everyone with their music at the Woodlawn Community Center. Oldies but goodies, best describes their music. Kern is famous for his keyboard and playing with the “Pacers.” The Woodlawn Community Center is located at 10070 Arkansas 31 north. Come early for a cup of coffee, and bring a dish for the potluck luncheon.

Friday: The American Red Cross will be accepting blood donations from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. at Red Oak Healthcare and Rehab, 1010 Barnes St. in Lonoke.

Saturday: The Carlisle Bison Booster Bash will kick off at 5 p.m. in the city park. Stop by for your chance to “bash” the car. Bison merchandise, snow cones and pork chop meals will be available for purchase. The meal will include a pork chop sandwich, baked beans, chips, cookie and drink for only $7.

Wednesday: The American Red Cross will be accepting blood donations from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at Gina Cox Center, 501 W. Academy in Lonoke.

Sept. 1: The Carlisle Public Library will be closed in observance of Labor Day.

Sept. 3: Toddler time will be at 10 a.m. at the Carlisle Public library. Theme is Pete the Cat.

Sept. 8: The Carlisle Chamber of Commerce will meet at noon in the Civic Center. Meal will be provided for $5.

Sept. 8: Lego Rama will be from 3:30 p.m. until 5:30 p.m. from students in third through sixth grade, at the Carlisle Public library.

Sept. 8: The Lonoke City Council will meet at 6 p.m. in the courtroom at City Hall.

Sept. 8: The Carlisle School Board will meet at 7:30 p.m. in the boardroom at the superintendent’s office.

Sept. 9: Table top Tuesday, at the Carlisle Public library. Board games will be available for families to play from 3:30 p.m. until 5:50 p.m.

Sept. 10: Toddler time will be at 10 a.m. at the Carlisle Public library. Theme is grandparents.

Sept. 15: The Lonoke School board will meet at 6 p.m. in the administration building.

Sept. 16: Bingo for Books will be from 4-5 p.m. at the Carlisle Public library. All ages are welcome.

Sept. 16: The Carlisle City Council will meet at 6 p.m. in the Civic Center.

Sept. 17: Toddler time will be at 10 a.m. at the Carlisle Public library. Theme is fish.

Sept. 13: The Ward Chamber of Commerce invites everyone to this year’s annual Jamboree from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. at the Ward Chamber Community Center in Downtown Ward. This year’s headliner entertainment will be none other than local country recording artists Willie Ray & Smokin’ Guns. In addition to Willie Ray & Smokin’ Guns (www.willieraylive.com), there will be live entertainment all day long with bingo games; cake walks, and a silent auction. New to the Jamboree this year will be food vendors. There will also be crafts booths, product specific booths, and informational booths available all day long. Sept. 22: Today through Sept. 26 is banned Book week at the Carlisle Public library. Stop by and check out celebrate your freedom to read! Banned Books Week is an annual awareness campaign that celebrates the freedom to read, draws attention to banned and challenged books, and highlights persecuted individuals. The Carlisle Public Library would love for you to stop by their display and take your selfie reading a banned book. All participants will be entered in a drawing held on Friday, Sept. 26.

Sept. 29: Marble Run will be from 4-5 p.m. at the Carlisle Public Library for students in third grade and up. The library team has lost their marble, stop in and test your knowledge on building a maze

Sept. 30: Table top Tuesday, at the Carlisle Public library. Board games will be available for families to play from 3:30 p.m. until 5:50 p.m.
