Today: Through the month of August, BancorpSouth in Carlisle will be collecting school supplies for children in need. Donations can be brought to the BancorpSouth branch.
Today: At 10 a.m. the Woodlawn Community Center’s will have a Bingo day. Fill a gift bag with a gift, (something inexpensive). The Woodlawn Community Center is located at 10070 Arkansas 31 north. Come early for a cup of coffee, and bring a dish for the potluck luncheon.
Today: Drop in and meet Clifford the Big Red Dog from 2-5 p.m. at the Carlisle Public Library. Elementary ages welcome to the back to school party with Clifford.

Aug. 22: The American Red Cross will be accepting blood donations from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. at Red Oak Healthcare and Rehab, 1010 Barnes St. in Lonoke.
Aug. 27: The American Red Cross will be accepting blood donations from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at Gina Cox Center, 501 W. Academy in Lonoke.
Sept. 8: The Carlisle Chamber of Commerce will meet at noon in the Civic Center. Meal will be provided for $5.
Sept. 8: The Lonoke City Council will meet at 6 p.m. in the courtroom at City Hall.
Sept. 8: The Carlisle School Board will meet at 7:30 p.m. in the boardroom at the superintendent’s office.
Sept. 13: The Ward Chamber of Commerce invites everyone to this year’s annual Jamboree from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. at the Ward Chamber Community Center in Downtown Ward. This year’s headliner entertainment will be none other than local country recording artists Willie Ray & Smokin’ Guns. In addition to Willie Ray & Smokin’ Guns (www.willieraylive.com), there will be live entertainment all day long with bingo games; cake walks, and a silent auction. New to the Jamboree this year will be food vendors. There will also be crafts booths, product specific booths, and informational booths available all day long.
