A sunny day and spring flowers welcomed Carlisle Progressive Club members to the home of Sue Young on March 13. Cathy Williams was co-hostess.

During the business meeting, book donations were assigned to Cathy Williams and Sharolyn Sumner, Charlene Lewis reported that work continues on the spring segment of the “welcome bag” project, and the club chose to sponsor Jana Hillman to Girls State.

President Jane Ann Harper gave a report from the district convention meeting and noted that the club placed first in leadership, yearbook, public issues, art partnership, education partnership and advocacy for children.

Program emphasis for the meeting was foreign mission work, and Jessica Boswell, a clinical research nurse working in NICU at Children’s Hospital, was guest speaker. Boswell discussed rewards of working with tiny, vascular malformation, or cleft lip and palate patients. She also discussed her passion for missions and the life changing experiences of her mission trips to China, Haiti, and Africa, where some 60-80 surgeries were performed per trip.

Afterward, Club members enjoyed refreshments and visitation.

The next club meeting will be March 10 at 1:30 p.m. in the home of Shirley Stanley.
