Black History Celebration to be held

Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church of Carlisle and Rev. Nelson A. Watson, Pastor, held a special service Feb.24, celebrating Black History Month: “Honoring Black male and female veterans from Carlisle, Arkansas.”

The featured speaker was Staff Sgt. E6 Stanley Russell.

The Congregation paid tribute and offered their gratitude to the more than 100 black men and women of the armed forces from Carlisle, and their families, for their service to our country.

“Without their sacrifices, we would not be afforded the liberties we now enjoy in this great country of ours. A special dinner was held after the service in honor of those veterans in attendance,” Watson said.
