Altruistic Club holds meeting

The Carlisle Altruistic Club met Jan. 16 in the home of Pauline Parker.

President Carolyn Martin called the meeting to order. Jan Pasley led the club in the Pledge of Allegiance. Cindy Carter, program leader, introduced Maddie Harrison, the club’s representative to the 2012 Arkansas Girls State. Harrison told of her experiences and enjoyment of the meetings, meeting new friends and learning how state government is conducted.

Secretary Ruth Woods called roll and read the minutes of the last meeting. A “thank you” note from the family of Bill Elmore was read. Treasurer Dorothy Elmore read the financial report.

District IV President Hazel Swilley reminded the club of the spring board meeting on March 9 in Hazen at Calvary Baptist Church Family Life Center. She also had member to tell their favorite thing about club, favorite club project and important or outstanding person they have met.

President Martin reported on how appreciative the family was that received the Christmas gives ad how she and Charlotte Bennett enjoyed shopping for the gifts. She also thanked the Christmas party hostesses Mary Kittler, Pat Hogan and Mary Smith for a nice part.

The next meeting will be our Valentin Social on Feb. 14 at 5:30 p.m. at Papa Joe’s in Humnoke with Cindy Carter and Rhonda Parker as hostesses.

Club was adjourned with Charlotte Bennett leading the collect.

Hostess Pauline Parker was assisted in serving refreshments by Alicia Pasley, Charlotte Bennett and Dorothy Elmore.
