Today: The Woman Can Run Clinic has begun in Lonoke. This clinic is free to the participants. However, people do need to register at www.womenrunarkansas.net. The clinic in Lonoke will be Tuesdays and Thursdays at 6:30 pm. There are walkers, beginning runners, advanced and intermediate groups.

Saturday: The Carlisle Community Easter Egg Hunt will be held at 10 am at the Carlisle City Park. It is for ages 0-12. There will be pictures with the Easter Bunny for $5.

Sunday: The Landmark Missionary Baptist Church choir will perform a Easter concert on at 10:40 a.m. The public is invited to join this Easter morning celebration. The church is located at 517 E. 3rd St. in Carlisle.

Sunday: The Highway 86 Gospel Band will be preforming at 5 p.m. at the Grace Chapel Baptist Church S.B.C., 611 Smyrna Road, Lonoke. Refreshments and fellowship to follow. The public is invited to bring their voice, instruments and CDs.

Monday: The Carlisle Economic Development Corporation (CEDC) will host a business retention banquet at 6 p.m. in the Civic Center. Every business that has paid occupational taxes in the city, will receive two invitations to the dinner. Those in attendance will hear what the CEDC has done in the past five years, what the plans are for the future and be introduce to some of their economic partners. Keynote speaker for the dinner will be Christopher Crane with the Arkansas Film Commission.

Tuesday: The Carlisle Public Library will host Pinch of This food club at 5:15 p.m. Adults are invited to watch a food demonstration.

Tuesday: Carlisle Elementary School kindergarten registration will be from 4-6:30 p.m. in the elementary cafeteria. Parents should bring a copy of the child’s social security card, birth certificate, immunization record and proof of a current physical.

Wednesday: Toddler time will be at 10 a.m. at the Carlisle Public Library. The theme will be rain week.

April 4: Carlisle Pre-K registration for 3 and 4 year olds will be from 4-6 p.m. in the preschool building. Children must be 3 or 4 by Aug. 1, 2013. Parents should bring a copy of the child’s social security card, birth certificate, immunization record and a copy of your 2012 income tax form.

April 6: The 11th annual Hazen lodge scholarship breakfast will be from 6-9 a.m. at Hazen Lodge #361 on the corner of E. Madison and S. Grove St. in Hazen. The meal will include eggs, bacon, sausage, hash browns, biscuits, homemade gravy, orange juice and coffee along with great fellowship. Cost is $7 in advance and $8 at the door. Tickets maybe purchased from any lodge member. Proceeds go in toward a $1,000 scholarship that will be awarded to a 2013 Hazen High School graduate.

April 6: SharkRocket Swim School will be from 10 a.m. until noon at the Lonoke Community Center. SharkRocket coaches and swimmers will be teaching swim lessons. Cost is $25 which includes a T-shirt. For more information call Tara Bennett at 501-416-4438.

April 6: The Annual Miss Carlisle Pageant will be at 5 p.m. in the elementary cafeteria. Admission is $4 for adults and $2 for children 12 and under. Entertainment will be offered throughout the pageant. Concession will also be available.

April 6: The Humnoke Pentecostal Church of God will hold its annual fish fry and gospel singing from 5-7 p.m. in the fellowship hall. Tickets are $14 for adults and $8 for children 6-11. Kids five and under eat free. The meal will be catered by King Kat. Homemade desserts will also be provided. Proceeds will go to benefit the Bible quiz team.

April 8: The Carlisle Chamber of Commerce will meet at noon in the Civic Center.

April 8: BancorpSouth in Carlisle, 118 N. Court will host its annual Community Shred day from 10 a.m. until noon at the bank. Old tax records, bank statements, checks or any paper items needed proper disposal is accepted. It is not necessary to remove staples, paper clips, binder clips or manila folders. Please remove all paper from binders. Binders, cardboard, plastics, hard drives, computer or floppy disks can not be accepted

April 8: The Lonoke City Council will meet at 6 p.m. in the court room.

April 8: The Carlisle School board will meet at 7:30 p.m. in the board room of the superintendents office.

April 9: Tweens will meet at 4:30 p.m. at the Carlisle Public Library. There will also be a couponing class at 5:30 p.m. with Katrina Robinson.

April 10: Toddler time will be at 10 a.m. at the Carlisle Public Library. The theme will be kite week.

April 11: The Lonoke County Farm Bureau Women’s Committee, along with the U of A Cooperative Extension Service, will sponsor the 2013 Miss Lonoke County Rice Contest 6 p.m. at the Lonoke County Cooperative Extension Service located at 2001 Hwy 70 East in Lonoke. Deadline for applications will be April 8. Applications are available at the Lonoke County Farm Bureau office in Lonoke and Cabot, as well as the Extension Service. Each participant will bring their prepared rice dish to the contest and give a three-minute oral presentation on the rice industry. The winner will receive $100, second place $50.00 and third place $25.00. Miss Lonoke County Rice will represent Lonoke County in the Miss Arkansas Rice Competition. She will also promote the rice industry through promotional and educational programs through out schools and the county. For more information about the contest, contact Dianna Bowen at 501-676-3124.

April 12: The Carlisle Futuristic League will host a drive-through hamburger supper from 4:30-7:30 p.m. from the depot

April 15: The Lonoke School Board will meet at 6 p.m. in the Administration building.

April 16: The Carlisle City Council will meet at 6 p.m. at the Civic Center.

April 16: Putt putt family golf night will be from 6:30-8 p.m. at the Carlisle Public Library.

April 17: Toddler time will be at 10 a.m. at the Carlisle Public Library. The theme will be garden week.

April 21: Toddler time will be at 10 a.m. at the Carlisle Public Library. The theme will be Pigeon Books by Author Mo Williams.
