Today: Parent-teacher conference will begin at 2:30 p.m. and last until 7:30 p.m. at Carlisle High School. There will be a special meeting for parents of students who have signed up for Advanced Placement Courses and college courses. This meeting will be held in the library of the high school at 6 p.m.. Information will be given about the courses offered and the expectations for students.
Following this meeting the high school counselor will talk to parents of junior and seniors about financial aid for college and the steps they should be taking. If you have a student taking these classes or planning on attending college in the near future, please be sure to attend these meetings.
Today: Bingo for Books will be from 4-5 p.m. at the Carlisle Public Library
Tuesday: There will a “Who stole the cookies” story time for all ages at 5 p.m. at the Carlisle Public Library
Wednesday: The Bunny Tales story time will meet at 10 a.m. at the Lonoke Public Library. Our theme this week will be focusing on colors.
Wednesday: There will be a St. Patrick’s Day themed toddler time at 10 a.m. at the Carlisle Public Library
March 27: Concord Methodist Church will host the Annual Wild Game Banquet at 7 p.m. Guest speaker is Hank Hough of Kingdom Dog Ministries. There will be plenty of wild game dishes and non-wild game dishes as well. Admission is $10. Children six and under eat free.
March 29: The Bethlehem First United Methodist Church in Lonoke will host a spaghetti supper from 6-8 p.m. in the fellowship hall. Cost is $10 for adults and $5 for children. Proceeds will help to fund the Christian Mission Campaign to Brazil.
April 5: The annual Miss Carlisle Pageant will be at 5 p.m. in the Carlisle Elementary Cafeteria. Entry deadline is at 4 p.m. March 27. Forms are available at the High school or elementary office, Nick’s BBQ, Fever’s, Lonoke County Co-op or from any Heritage League member. April 12: The Miss Fort Lincoln Pageant will begin at 11 a.m. at the Prairie County Community Center. Ages birth-21 years will be eligible for competition. The birth-12 year old pageant will begin at 11 a.m., and the 13-21 year old pageant will begin at 5:30 p.m. All contestants will compete in formal wear. All contestants ages seven-21 years will compete in interview, and contestants who choose to will compete in talent and photogenic.
All queens will receive a crown, sash, and prize pack. Queens will also receive two tickets to the Southern Heritage Dinner on April 26. Queens will also be the face of Fort Lincoln Festival on May 10. The Teen Miss Fort Lincoln will receive a $250 scholarship, and Miss Fort Lincoln will win a $500 scholarship. Talent winners will receive a prize and will perform at Fort Lincoln Festival on the main stage. Interview and photogenic winners will receive a prize as well.
The Miss Fort Lincoln Pageant is a pageant that celebrates the contestants’ beauty, poise, personality, and spirit. This is a pageant for first timers and pageant veterans alike. The entry fee is $30 with an additional $10 for talent and $10 for photogenic, which are both optional. April 14: The Carlisle Chamber of Commerce will meet a noon in the Civic Center. Meal will be available for $5.

April 18: Community Shred day will be from 10 a.m until noon at BancorpSouth in Carlisle. Staples, paper clips, binder clips or manila folder do not have to be removed before shredding. Please remove all paper from binders. Binders, cardboard, plastics, hard drives, computer discs or floppy drives can not be shredded.
April 21: The Lonoke School Board will meet at 6 p.m. at the administration building.
April 22: The Carlisle City Council will meet a 6 p.m. in the Civic Center..
May 2: The Relay for Life of Lonoke County will be from 6 p.m. until 12 a.m. at the Gina Cox Center. For more information call 501-690-8538 or visit the website at RelayForLife.org.
May 3: Grills and Gowns, a pageant and BBQ contest, benefit event for the Lonoke County Council on Again, Meals on Wheels Program will be from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. at the Lonoke County fair grounds. Cost is $50 for a four member team for the BBQ contest. Turn in time is 3 p.m. Five awards will be given. The pageant will be open to any girls ages birth to 20 years. Cost for pageant entry is $30 for beauty, $10 for photogenic or $35 for beauty and photogenic. Attire will be pageant dress or Sunday best. There will be eight categories winners and one people’s choice winner. Deadline by Mail is April 25 or in person by May 2.
