Weeks twins finish in Top 10 at heptathlon

Cabot twin sisters Tori and Lexi Weeks left their marks on the 2013 Arkansas High School heptathlon last week in Fayetteville.

The sophomores finished eighth and ninth respectively in the annual event, which features some of the best athletes in the state.

Tori Weeks scored 3,889 points to get eighth place. Lexi Weeks scored 3,865, which was good enough for ninth place. Both athletes received plaques for their efforts.

Junior Kelsey Herman of Crossett won the heptathlon with 4,844 points; 2. Payton Stumbaugh, Springdale Har-Ber, 4,538; 3. Logan Morgon, Bentonville, 4,100; Alexis Royal, Bryant, 4,071; Greer Clouse, Lead Hill, 4,015; 6. Kassidy Snowden, Nashville, 3,989; 7. Melinda Burdock, Bryant, 3,899.

Madison Richey of Beebe was ninth and Leigha Gills of Murfreesboro was 10th.

After the first day of competition, Lexi Weeks was in seventh place with 2,282 points. She ran the 100-meter hurdles in 16.29 seconds for 679 points. She long jumped 17 feet, 2 inches for 623 points. She threw the discus 68 feet, 3 inches for 292 points. She ran then the 200-meter dash in 27.12 seconds.

Tori Weeks was in 15th place after the first day with 2,121 points.

She ran the 100-meter hurdles in 16.70 seconds for 631 points. She long jumped 15 feet, 3 3/4 inches for 427 points. She threw the discus 79 feet, 2 3/4 inches for 353 points. She ran the 200-meter dash in 27.57 seconds for 655 points.

Tori Weeks jumped seven spots after the second day. She high jumped 4 feet, 9 3/4 inches for 588 points. She threw the shot put 26 feet, 8 inches for 408 points. She ran the 800 meters in 2 minutes, 23.81 seconds for 772 points.

Lexi Weeks high jumped 4 feet, 2 inches for 379 points. She threw the shot 27 feet, 10 1/4 inches for 431 points. She ran the 800 meters in 2:23.80.

Decathlon

Cabot had two athletes participate in the boys decathlon.

Cabot senior Seth Hoggard finished 29th with 4,692 points. Junior Hayden Richey was 30th with 4,682.

After the first day of competition, Hoggard was in 28th place with 2,768 points.

He ran the 100-meter dash in 12.14 seconds for 624 points. He long jumped 20 feet, 1/2 inch for 610 points. He threw the shot put 35 feet, 4 inches for 532 points. He high jumped 4 feet, 11 1/2 inches for 396 points. He ran the 400-meter dash in 54.82 seconds for 606 points.

Richey was 36th place after the first day with 2,674 points.

He ran the 100-meter dash in 12.05 seconds for 641 points. He long jumped 18 feet, 2 inches for 490 points. He threw the shot put 36 feet, 3 inches for 549 points. He high jumped 4 feet, 11 3/4 inches for 404 points. He ran the 400-meter dash in 55.22 seconds for 590 points.

On the second day, Hoggard dropped one spot to 29th while Richey improved six places to 30th.

Hoggard ran the 110-meter hurdles in 20.95 seconds for 278 points. He threw the discus 95 feet, 6 3/4 inches for 447 points. He triple jumped 38 feet, 8 1/2 inches for 436 points. He pole vaulted 8 feet, 11 3/4 inches for 296 points. He ran the 1,500 meters in 5:15.35 for 475 points.

Richey ran the 110-meter hurdles in 18.41 seconds for 467 points. He threw the discus 98 feet, 10 1/2 inches for 467 points. He triple jumped 33 feet, 5 1/4 inches for 266 points. He pole vaulted 10 feet, 6 inches for 406 points. He ran the 1,500 meters in 5:33.26 for 383 points.

Rogers Heritage’s Alex Miles won the decathlon with 6,875 points. His teammate Dan Spickes was second with 6,368 points.
