CLARKSVILLE — University of the Ozarks junior pitcher Tyler Erickson was named the American Southwest Conference East Division Baseball Pitcher of the Week, it was announced Monday by ASC Media Relations Director Greg Weghorst.

Erickson, a native of Cabot, tossed a complete-game, three-hit shutout with nine strikeouts to win the opener of a three-game series against Hardin-Simmons on March 1. Erickson walked just one batter and allowed only five base runners over the seven innings. The 6-foot, 195-pound right-hander gave up just one hit in the first three innings to help keep his record perfect at 3-0.

This season, he has tossed 23 2/3 innings, struck out 18 and owns a 2.66 earned run average.

He is a graduate of Cabot High School where he earned all-conference during his junior and senior campaigns.

Ozarks (8-6) will open American Southwest Conference play this weekend when it hosts Texas-Dallas (7-8) in a three-game set starting Friday at 2:00 p.m.
