Piranhas finish second at Meet of Champs

The Cabot Piranhas had a great Saturday at the Central Arkansas Swim League Meet of Champs at UALR, with dozens of swimmers giving the Panthers points and several taking first place.

As a team, Cabot finished in second place behind only the Sherwood Sharks. Maumelle finished a distant third.

Cabot had three swimmers finish in the top three in all five individual events. Jason Bongfeldt (B 11-12) won the platinum breaststroke and finished third in the platinum individual medley, while winning the gold freestyle, backstroke and took third in the butterfly.

Grace Esteban (G 7-8) had a big day, winning the platinum breast, fly and IM and finished second in the free and back.

Jessie Baldwin (G 15-18) went back and forth against Lonoke’s excellent Kayla McGee. Baldwin beat her in the platinum back and IM and the also the gold fly, while finishing second in the platinum free and breast.

BOYS

6-Under

Connor Hayre finished second in the platinum free and the gold back and took third in the gold breast. Eli Hernandez won the bronze back, while Gideon Breedlove won the bronze fly.

7-8

Johnny Bender won the bronze free and finished third in the silver fly. Jacob Taylor finished second in the gold fly.

9-10

Kolton Fulcher won the silver back and took third in the breast. Andrew Deese took second in the gold breast, Logan Atkinson was second in the bronze breast, while Tristan Taylor was third in the silver free.

11-12

Hunter Belton won the bronze free and back, while Thomas McDonough was second in the bronze free and IM. Auston Melton finished second in the silver back.

13-14

Tristen Bowen didn’t quite take first in any of his races, but earned points in four events. Bowen finished second in the platinum back, breast and IM and was third in the fly.

Chase Foiles finished second in the gold IM and in the silver free.

15-18

The oldest group had the most success for the Piranhas on Saturday, with Payton Jones and Seth Fox placing in four events each, and five other swimmers earning points as well.

Jones won the platinum back and IM and took second in the free and fly. Fox was second in the platinum IM and third in the free, back and fly.

Noah Joyner won the gold free, breast and fly while Garrett Cardenas also had three firsts in the bronze free, back and fly.

Andrew Hupp won the gold IM and silver breast, Hunter Carmical won the silver IM, and Chris Daniel finished second in the silver fly.

GIRLS

6-Under

Annie Thomas won the platinum breast and took second in the silver free. Lilianna Strassner won the bronze free and finished third in the gold back. Micah Madar took second in the bronze fly.

7-8

Kendal LeQuieu won the gold IM, took second in the fly and finished third int eh back and breast.

Madalyn Peck won the bronze free, Cayla Garcia was second in the silver fly, and Elizabeth Esteban was second in the bronze breast.

9-10

Carly Madar had a solid meet, winning the gold breast and fly and finishing second in the free and IM.

Evie Bender won the silver fly, while Kinley Siepert won the bronze free.

11-12

These girls, along with the oldest teens, had the most swimmers earn points for the Piranhas.

Grace Mackey won the gold free and finished second in the gold IM and platinum back. Rachel Montanaro won the gold IM and took second in the gold fly and platinum breast.

Charlotte Ball won the silver IM and finished second in the gold back, while Emily Lynch was second in the gold breast and silver fly.

Izzy Dulin won the gold fly, and Olivia Atkinson won the bronze IM.

13-14

Samantha Scott won the silver breast and took second in the back. Abigail Breedlove took second in the silver fly.

15-18

Caytee Wright faced some serious competition and took third place in the platinum free and IM and third in the gold fly.

Allison Kindrex won the silver breast, Chelbi Dulin won the bronze IM, Katie finished second in the gold free, and Maddie Darcey was second in the gold IM.
